Survivor Philippines is the Philippine version of the reality television series Survivor. It is hosted by television personality Paolo Bediones. At the first audition in Davao, Bediones revealed that the prize money would be the largest in the history of reality shows in the Philippines: in addition to the title of Sole Survivor, the contestant who lasts the longest will also win 3,000,000 pesos (around US$65,000).

Auditions were held in six Philippine cities in May 2008. From these interviews, 18 contestants (up from the originally announced 16) were be selected to participate on the show in June 2008. The show was shot in Ko Tarutao, the same island where Survivor: Thailand took place, from July to August, 2008.

This series premiered on September 15, 2008. While the show is aired on a daily basis rather than once a week, all elements of the Survivor franchise are otherwise present. The names of the tribes are derived from the Thai language: Naak (นาค) and Jarakay (จระเข้), meaning snake and crocodile respectively. The tribes were initially divided by gender, with Jarakay composed of the nine male contestants, and Naak of the females.

Also unique is the use of theme music for the British version composed by Russ Landau, who made the Ancient Voices series of theme scores for the American version. It has further been re-arranged and added with tribal and ethnic flavors by local Filipino composer Diwa de Leon and chant vocals were performed by Evan Britanico. The song Pure Shores by All Saints was also used in the show as background music.

Bediones also announced that the results of the final Tribal Council will be known live in the last episode of this season. He said this amid reports that a showbiz-oriented website published the alleged results of the said Final Tribal Council after two of the show's staff were overheard in a coffee shop about the show's outcome. Bediones labelled the report as a spoiler.
